DEMOREST CITY GOVERNMENT PREPARES FOR FOURTH OF JULY PARADE
So far preparations appear to be proceeding as we have come to expect.
Parade entry forms are available from Community Bank & Trust in
Demorest. The form says parade entry deadline is June 22. Entrants
assemble at 10:00 am. July 4th. Lets sign up early next year.

Come early to find a good parking
spot.
Rt. 441 will be closed when the parade starts so don't be late.
Plan to buy lunch here, give your wife a break. Make it a real
family outing, the old fashioned kind.
Bring some money to spend at the arts and crafts booths. It's a
long day for them, make it worthwhile. It's a chance to take home
something interesting or to pick up a
unique gift for a birthday, or even to get a start on Christmas
shopping. These people have worked hard to make things to offer as well
as making and setting up their booth. Buy something so it will be worth
their while to come back next year with new stuff.
There are a lot of activities for the children and horseshoes
for
the oldsters. Plan to spend the day. Wrap it up with the fireworks
display provided by Community Bank & Trust.
Extended forecast is for scattered thunder showers on Saturday. Just
say no to that.
Thursday 7:30 PM, the Demorest Fire Department had the truck out,
checking access and planning logistics to insure safety for the fire
works display. Most people don't realize how much preparation goes into
making the fourth of July celebration as fun and safe as possible. Make
that work worthwhile, come on out, have fun, and support one of the
last small town celebrations.

Too bad about the beam in the center... well, it's still a great idea
and quite a wiring job.

Each bulb socket clips onto the existing wire grid. There just isn't
any grid in front of the center beam. Congratulations to whoever
came up with this great idea. Demorest City Councilman
Perry Hendrix was asked who was responsible for putting up this flag.
He replied that he thought it was the City but he wasn't sure. The
bridge belongs to Piedmont College and special wiring was installed for
it, including an automatic timer in the elevator service room to turn
it on and off, so someone went to some expense to install it. I guess
the city would like to take the credit for it though.
